Introduction
Everyone is affected by Project Management to some level in the modern economic environment. This course is a general introduction to project management. The course will examine the role of the project manager and the structure of a project and the project team. Participants will learn about the project planning process, how to set project aims and objectives, budgeting and how to employ a variety of useful project planning tools. Risk analysis and management will also be covered.
Using a mix of lectures, simulations and workshops, this three day seminar is designed for delivery to a variety of audiences, each of which may have different needs for Project Management knowledge and skill. By the end of the seminar participants will be ready to apply the concepts and tools of Project Management in their own work environment. The course includes the production of a project plan within assigned groups.
Course objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
§ Understand basic project management terminology, methodology and the role of project manager.
§ Understand the fundamentals of Gantt charts, Critical Path Analysis & PERT.
§ Appreciate why projects fail and how failure can be avoided.
§ Appreciate the effect of Project Management on third parties.
§ Understand how to produce a project plan with effective budgeting.
Prerequisite
None however a basic understanding of project management will be of use.
