Introduction    

Project management in organisations large and small is often characterised by multiple concurrent project responsibility. This course examines various organisation structures and the different approaches to project management methodology within each.

The importance of leadership is covered and the skills required to organise a larger project are explored. Additional concepts covered include structured project planning and control, using earned value to analyse performance and designing a project management information system.

Course objectives       

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

 

  • Understand what constitutes a complex project
  • Appreciate the difference between project and programme management
  • Apply a variety of advanced tools and techniques to complex project/programme situations
  • Use earned value to analyse performance and control change
  • Appreciate the importance of appropriate project leadership, including managing conflict in a project setting
  • Design a basic project management information system

 

Prerequisite              

Have previously attended the Introduction to Project Management course or be actively working within a project management environment
